Join us for an evening of discussion with Nicole Jorwic, Director of Rights Policy, The Arc of the United States on important National Public Policy topics such as:
¨ Education
¨ Transition
¨ Employment
¨ Adult Support, including the Direct Support Professional shortage
Over the last 60 years, The Arc has grown and adapted to the changes that people with disabilities face across their life span. Through the decades, The Arc has seen several name changes, advocated for the passage of state and federal legislation on behalf of people with disabilities and established a broad network of state and local chapters that range from small voluntary groups to large, professional organizations. Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security, Medicare and civil rights laws like the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) are critical for people with I/DD and their families, providing benefits, supports, and civil rights protections that help make community living possible. These federal programs provide the key to community living and inclusion for people with I/DD across the nation. Now more than ever, we must join together as a collective movement to ensure that these programs and civil rights are protected. This event is FREE thanks to our sponsors - Saginaw Valley State University and The Arc of the United States
