The Arc of Midland in partnership with Wayne State University's Developmental Disabilities Institute invites you to an empowerment edcuation training for direct support professionals. There are four trianings being offered at this time and we encourage you to sign up for all four. Two trainings will occur on February 20 and the other two will occur on March 20.

1. Creating A Culture of Support: This training focuses on exploring the system of positive behavioral
supports. Throughout this model, participants will learn the benefits of developing positive relations, and techniques that Direct Support Professionals can use to build and sustain positive relationships with the people they serve.

1:00pm-2:30pm

2. Supporting Growth Through Opportunity and Choices: This training is designed to give you information about how to support people with disabilities in making their own choices without influencing them in their
decision-making.

1. Teaching Made Easy: This training is designed to
provide information on how you can effectively teach people with disabilities new life skills through the use of different teaching strategies and techniques.

2. Supporting People in Establishing Friendships and
Making Community Connections
: This training is designed to give you information about ways you can support
people with disabilities  in developing relationships/friendships with people in the community.
